2nd year design project
Brief (in brief)
Design an autonomous jumping robot that can jump 30 cm up and 30 cm forwards. The design had to weigh less than 300 g and cost less than £100.
Solution
My final solution used the real testing to develop the most weight efficient robot possible at the lowest cost. Every body part is 3D printed and requires no post-print processing.
Physical testing
Using 3D printing I could iterate different designs by testing them with the real weights. By optimising, I could reduce both the cost and the weight. Some parts were remarkably strong, with the claw taking 4 Kg before snapping.
Report
Upon submission, the report achieved a 1st and was the one of the top 3 projects in the year group.
